Look good, feel good, do good! That is the mantra I live my life by. In order to achieve this, consistent working out is part of my self-care routine. If you remember from earlier this week, working out daily is a little something I do that brings me pure joy!
With that being said, COVID has really killed my gym vibe…maybe you can relate? I haven’t stepped foot into an actual gym since March and despite the fact my gym is open, I am not going anywhere near it for the foreseeable future. GERM CITY!
As a creative solution to my workout problems, at-home workouts have become my new best friend! Pair those workouts with some really cute activewear and you have one happy camper!

Recently, I had a conversation with a girlfriend who said “I don’t feel like I can workout if I’m not physically at the gym.” Maybe many of you feel the same way! Ladies, I am here to tell you that you can get just as an effective workout at home as you would if you went to the gym or group class!
There are so many fitness options out there that you can do right from your home! Lucky for me, I am surrounded by women who love working out just as much as I do and I have been able to collaborate with them on various at-home fitness options.
Below are a few at-home workout options that have really spiced up my fitness routine. Let’s jump in shall we!
Fitness Apps for At-Home Workouts
Technology is a fabulous thing isn’t it?!? The ability to follow a fitness program from your phone literally leaves zero excuses for why you can’t workout out. There are a variety of fitness apps out there that not only offer a mix of workouts, but a lot of them also offer nutritional plans, group classes, and an awesome community of women you can keep in touch with to help keep you accountable. The best part, these apps are designed by some badass women for women. There is nothing I love more than women supporting women! These fitness platforms do come at a cost but it is no more than your monthly gym fees! Below is a list of some of my favorite fitness apps that I guarantee you will love too!
Currently, I am using Alive by Whitney Simmons. The app has two at-home workout programs and two workouts perfect for women comfortable hitting the gym. It also has a variety of targeted workouts that focus on abs, HIIT, legs, pull, push, and upper body. Each fitness move has a real-time gif properly showing you how to conduct the move safely. The workouts are counted down and timed which is perfect for women who hate checking their watch every 5 seconds. I also love how the screen stays on the entire workout! There is nothing I hate more than having to unlock my phone screen every few minutes to see what’s next. The majority of the workouts only require free weights, bands, and a yoga mat. Alive Inside has really helped this gal out by pushing me to maintain my fitness goals and I could not recommend it more!
YouTube for At-Home Workouts
YouTube is a one-stop-shop for everything you could ever need. You want a barre class…YouTube it! Yoga is more your speed…YouTube it! My personal go-to workout classes come from the POPSUGAR Fitness channel on YouTube. There are a wide variety of fitness classes for all levels. This channel has a great mix of classes that range from 15 minutes to an hour. You only have 20 minutes for a quick workout…perfect, there is a HIIT class for you! A weight training class where you can burn 600 calories? You can do that too! POPSUGAR Fitness is great because a good majority of their classes require only bodyweight…no gym equipment needed! Check it out!
Virtual Bootcamps for At-Home Workouts
Virtual boot camps are all the rage right now! At the beginning of quarantine, my hopefully one day sister in law hosted 30-minute virtual fitness classes during lunchtime via Zoom. This little lady may be 90 lbs soaking wet but she is fierce as hell! By the end of her classes I was legit dying! BUT IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! I got my sweat on with a bunch of other women which helped hold me accountable and broke up my workday. Grab your girlfriends, get on Zoom, Google Duo, Instagram Live, or Facebook live, pump the jams, and workout together! I promise you will be smiling by the end!
At-Home Workout Equipment
I have always wanted an area dedicated to fitness in our home and COVID gave me the opportunity to create that space! As I mentioned before, you do not need crazy machines in order to achieve an effective workout. Your body alone is one powerful machine. That being said, there are a few staple pieces that I have added to our at-home gym area that I use pretty regularly. Check them out below!
Spin Bike / Jump Rope / Dumbbell Set / Yoga Mat / Kettle Bells / Water Bottle / Bands / Weight Bench
The sky’s the limit for creative solutions to a lack of fitness equipment. Household items such as soup cans, wine bottles, kitchen chairs, paper plates, etc. can be used in place of the “normal” gym equipment. Let’s see how innovative you can be!
Now that you have the resources, the cute workout attire, and the gear, you have no excuses not to get your fitness on! Have you moved today?
Happy FriYAY!
