Camping is in-tents y’all!
The thought of spending multiple days in nature without a shower, surrounded by mosquitos sleeping in a tent is not the ideal getaway for this city gal. However, hiking, eating s’mores, relaxing around a campfire with my family or friends, and taking some much needed time to unplug far outweigh the negatives that are associated with a glamping getaway.
Growing up, our family camped every summer. It was something we all looked forward to every year. My Papa (my dad’s dad) had this old school brown Cadillac that pulled an even older teal and white camper up to Waterville Valley, New Hampshire.
Since moving back to New England I thought it would be fun to relive my glory days of camping with my “little family.” Start our own traditions.
Here’s the thing about camping as a kid versus camping as an adult…as a kid you didn’t have to prepare for the trip…you jumped in the car and POOF you were camping.
Camping is a little more involved as an adult. You have lists for gear, lists for food, lists for clothing, lists for toiletries, lists for days and your damn tootin you are checking them twice! Nothing worse than being in the middle of nowhere caught off guard!
Lucky for you, I have camped a time or two in my day and rounded up a few essential camping items to get you started.
I thought it would be helpful to share the ultimate camping packing checklist I came up with in order to make packing for your next adventure a breeze. This is not the end-all, be-all of camping necessities but is a good guide to follow when packing.
