My mum has taught me so many valuable things over the years! How to make the best chocolate chip cookies, how to plant a vegetable garden, how to not kill all the vegetables in said vegetable garden, how to be a “Maxxinista” and the list goes on. I am pretty lucky to have learned a thing or to from the best of the best!
One of the things I admire most about my mum is her creativity and passion for making floral arrangements. She can take the most basic arrangement from the grocery store and turn it into something so beautiful you would want it at your wedding!
Last year my mum surprised me with a fall floral arrangement that she made with simple grocery store blooms and a pumpkin. It screamed festive AF and it made the perfect addition to my fall tablescape!
Not only is this easy fall floral arrangement beautiful, it makes the most thoughtful hostess gift idea (just in case you needed one)! It is just a simple gesture that shows your friends and family you appreciate them.
What You Need:
Pumpkin (medium in size)
Pumpkin carving kit/sharp knives
Vase/large can
Flowers (I like making my own bouquet at the grocery store with a mixture of greenery and different kinds of blooms).
Some creativity and patience
Step 1: Carve your Pumpkin
Cut out a hole just big enough to fit your vase in the pumpkin. Make sure when you are selecting your pumpkin that it is big enough to completely cover your vase!
Dig out all the pumpkin guts and discard. Maybe get wild and bake some pumpkin seeds?!?
Step 2: Insert Vase into Pumpkin
I like to make quadrants with tape on the vase to make sections for my blooms. [many people use floral tape but I can never get it to stick hah! If you have some tricks of the trade please let a sister know by commenting below!]
Step 3: Build your Pumpkin Floral Arrangement
Start your floral arrangement by adding your greenery.
Next, add taller stems.
Fill in with shorter, fuller blooms as you see fit. I usually rearrange my blooms a million and a half times before I like the way it looks. There are occasions where I work so hard to put an arrangement together and then I step back and think “this thing is ugly as all get out!” HAH!
Sometimes I like to get a little wild with it and add accent pieces like grasses, berries, twigs, eucalyptus etc…it’s all what makes your heart happy!
WHALAA! The perfect DIY fall floral arrangement!
The best part about this fall floral centerpiece is that it is budget-friendly! I purhased my blooms on sale 3 for $15 at my favorite grocery store and the pumpkin cost me $5. I already had a vase at home which was the perfect size but if you need one, head to the dollar store! For $20 I created the most beautiful centerpiece you ever did see! No florist necessary!
