Cheers to One Year with The Proper Seal

Yes, that’s right…The Proper Seal blog is officially a year old!

If you have been with me from day one, words can not even begin to describe how thankful I am for your continued support! If you are new around here, welcome, and thank you for hanging around!

Year one with my blog has brought me more joy than I could have ever imagined! I never could have envisioned the impact I would make on complete strangers. From providing career advice to students and professionals alike, participating in Girl Scout STEM projects, and having the opportunity to meet some of my idols in the field; it has been a wild ride!

Conversely, this blog has also provided me with a lot of growing pains. Working 40+ hours a week as a forensic scientist and running a blog full-time is no joke. I am a one women show which means I am responsible for content creation, writing posts, promoting posts, Pinterest pins, troubleshooting technical issues, photography, Instagram content, affiliate marketing opportunities, and more. There have been many occasions with hours of behind-the-scenes work only for my content to fall flat. 

I am quite lucky, however, to have a significant other who has risen to the occasion to become quite the Instagram boyfriend and blog post proofreader. Despite the many eye rolls and payment requests, I think he may secretly enjoy being my trusty assistant HAH!

I have also leaned quite heavily on the expertise of all the boss babes in my life to provide quality, accurate insight into the various topics discussed on the blog. Your advice, testimony, and inspiration are what make The Proper Seal so unique and special.

A More Specific Niche

The Proper Seal is a career and lifestyle blog and will remain a career and lifestyle blog but with a more narrow focus. I have found that the majority of people who read my content are here for mostly career advice and GUESS WHAT?!? I’m here for it! I’m so glad that I can inspire and teach about a subject that I am so passionate about!

With that said, you know I can’t stay away from chatting about gift guides, affordable fashion, and home decor…I did want to be an interior designer after all! So stay tuned for changes to the website!

A Monthly Newsletter

All the experts say that a blog is nothing without its email list. Quite frankly I have been ignoring that true fact to focus on other areas of growth. 

It is my intention to send out a monthly newsletter just to check-in, fill you in on life updates, sneak in a couple of freebie printables, and give you the skinny on things you should check out! I’m not here to spam your email or bombard you with emails because that’s just not my style but I AM all about a friendly hello every once in a while!

A Step Back

Within the past few months, my life has gone from cruise control to Nascar driver with no intention of slowing down. With added work responsibilities, studying for an upcoming crime scene certification exam, co-hosting a podcast, traveling, and more, I just can’t commit to the same content output frequency as before. 

My goal is to put out one blog post a week. Will that consistently happen…I don’ know. But I promise to keep putting out quality content when I can. 

This blog has taught me a variety of lessons; one of those being personal limits. I am a one-woman show and physically cannot juggle all the balls all the time. Burnout is a real thing! Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Year one with The Proper Seal has been the perfect creative outlet for me. It has forced me to step outside my comfort zone, learn new skills, and try new things. I can’t believe that I get to do what I love most, which is teach and inspire, on one of the biggest platforms.
