Let’s talk about your lunch break routine! Here at The Proper Seal we are all about routines. By now, you have an effective morning routine that sets your day up for success and a nighttime routine that helps you wind down every day…but what about your lunch break routine?
Lunch breaks are an essential part of your day! Not only is that sweet 30 or 60 minutes essential for your well-being, but it is necessary to help refocus your energy, recharge, and prepare for the rest of your workday.
So after you eat your lunch, I’m guessing you have a few spare minutes left over before it’s time to get back to work. Here are a few ways you can effectively utilize your lunch break for a more productive day!
My Top 6 Lunch Break Hacks:
#1 Workout
I truly believe in the power of moving your body! Working out has a magical way of making me feel rejuvenated, re-energized, and more focused. Moving your body looks different for everyone…pop into the gym at work for a quick 30 minute HIIT class, take a walk outside around your building, go for a quick run, or find an on-demand workout from your favorite fitness app! When I was working from home, I put together a list of my favorite fitness apps. These are also perfect for a lunchtime workout at the office!
#2 Run Errands
Anytime I can sneak out of the office to run errands on my lunch break AKA go to Target, I feel like a whole new woman when I return to work! There is something so satisfying about running errands at lunch knowing you don’t have to do them after work! Pick up your Target order, go grocery shopping, or run to the post office! Your afternoon productivity level will go way up!
#3 Do something creative
Due to the nature of my job, I need to find a healthy separation from it. One of my favorite things to do on my lunch break is to get creative! Take a break from your workday to do something that brings you joy! Find an adult coloring book, knit, draw, or write. One of the reasons I started this blog was for a creative outlet. I utilize my lunch break to work on my blog whether that is blog writing, content creation, or planning out post ideas. Getting creative in the middle of my day allows me to refocus my energy to something positive but also resets me for the rest of my workday.
#4 Do chores
I never really realized what a game changer doing chores on your lunch break was until I worked from home. Now that I am back in the office full time, I really miss my lunch break chores! I could eat my lunch real quick, pop in a load of laundry, finish dishes, and pull out something for dinner. If you are still working from home, instead of catching up on your reality tv (which no judgment, I’m here for it!), try crossing a few things off your chore list! Fewer things for you to worry about after work!
#5 Re-Evaluate your To-Do List
Do you love checking items off your to-do list? Me too! Whether you are a to-do list maker at night or in the morning, it’s important to check-in to see if you are effectively making progress. Take a few minutes on your lunch break to re-evaluate your list. Maybe you are just crushing your day and are ahead of schedule or maybe your morning plan went to hell in a handbasket. Take the time to reorganize. Knowing exactly what you need to accomplish after lunch will set you up for success!
#6 Enjoy your Break
I don’t know about you, but on some days when I finally sit down for lunch I’m like WTF just happened! It’s like I blacked out and poof it’s lunchtime! These are the days I need and fully enjoy just sitting and eating my lunch. I don’t worry about anything else. If you have days like these, I highly encourage you to just enjoy your lunch break! There is nothing wrong with taking 30 or 60 minutes for yourself!
