Y’all I’m a proud, converted podcast fan! I don’t know how I was so late to this fantastic party but I am so glad to be raging with the rest of the hip millennials out there! Over the past year, I have started to listen to a variety pack of topics and have put together my list of top podcasts every female millennial should be listening to.
I don’t know how I went almost 30 years of my life without listening to podcasts consistently. Up until a year ago, the only podcasts I would listen to would be about murder or cold cases and they would put me to sleep…I feel like I should be concerned that listening to gruesome murders would put me to sleep like a lullaby but I’m not. Because of these experiences, I falsely associated all podcasts with automatic naps.
I’m here to tell you I was beyond wrong and that podcasts are an excellent and free way to learn something new. COVID had a huge impact on my podcast discovery! While searching for continuing education opportunities, I came across the idea of podcasts and was all in from there! If you are looking for additional continuing education opportunities, check out this virtual training guide!
The fabulous thing about podcasts is that there are topics for everyone! If you are interested in fashion, blogging, finance, or cooking…there is a podcast for you! The podcasts I have gravitated to revolve around personal development and entrepreneurship.
Personal development is the foundation for how you operate on a daily basis. It can shape how you see yourself, how you treat others, what choices you make, or what kind of an employee you are. This is why it is so important to continue to grow at a personal level!
So if you are a female millennial trying to better yourself, learn something new, or just need a pep talk, here is my list of the top podcasts you should be listening to.
Top Podcasts You Should Be Listening To:
To Educate yourself about Financials: The Dave Ramsey Show
I have been able to get a better handle and focus on my debt because of Dave Ramsey. My parents were excellent about guiding my siblings and I as far as financials go, but it’s like money and debt are not real until it slaps you in the face and it’s all yours. Following Dave Ramsey’s debt pyramid payoff guide has allowed me to free myself of the minimal credit card debt I had and pay off my car early! Next up, student loans! If topics like managing your money, investing, 401K’s, or anything money-related interest you, this is the podcast for you.
To Be a Better Employee: How to Be Awesome at Your Job
This podcast I actually found by accident scrolling through LinkedIn. The How to Be Awesome at Your Job podcast hosted by Pete Mockaitis talks about everything job-related to include multitasking tips, communication skills, how to make work more enjoyable, creating professional value, and more. I find it to be a very progressive podcast and every time I take away something valuable. Every week I come into work excited to tell my coworkers something mindblowing I learned…listen, the more you know!
If you are into Entrepreneurship: The BossBabe Podcast
The BossBabe podcast hosted by Natalie Eliss and Danielle Canty is a must for any young female entrepreneurs looking to grow their brand and businesses. I stumbled across their podcast during a long flight to Texas and it has made such a huge impact on me as a female, as well as, my brand. These gals mean business and aren’t afraid of hard work. Together, they have built a female empire and have a wealth of information from growing your Instagram, how to make and achieve goals, failure, taking your business to the next level, and more! Plus they are from the UK so it makes listening even that much more enjoyable!
For when you are lacking Motivation: The Rachel Hollis Podcast
I first learned about Rachel Hollis when one of my girlfriends suggested I read her book “Girl, Wash Your Face” (which is one of many great books she has written). She is the literal definition of a hype woman! So when I found out she had a podcast, I added her to the weekly cue! Her authentic, no-bullshit way of speaking is what caught my attention. The podcast covers a wide variety of topics including motivation, mom-life, relationships, life hacks, and more. If you are into having real real conversations, check it out.
If you are a Perfectionist: The Perfectionism Project
Are you someone who is crippled by the fear of not being perfect 24/7? You aren’t alone sister! The Perfectionism Project hosted by Sam Laura Brown is a must-listen for those who struggle with perfectionism in any area of their life. This podcast provides ideas and techniques for women to combat their struggles with perfectionism. It has been very sneaky insightful! I wish I found this podcast in my early twenties because I feel like her words of wisdom and life hacks would have done me some good!
If you want to live a Beautiful Life: Live Beautifully
Maybe you are at a crossroads in your life, you are a new mom, you are a recent graduate looking for your next power move, or you’re just an everyday gal who loves thoughtful conversation…this podcast is for you! Live Beautifully hosted by Katrina Scott, the co-founder of the fitness empire Tone It Up, is a brand new podcast that just launched last month.
I have been following Katrina for years as I am obsessed with all things Tone It Up! I am happy to report I am equally as obsessed with her podcast. I’ll find myself yelling “preach it sister” in my head to pretty much everything she says. This podcast discusses personal life stories, Q&A sessions, thoughtful conversations between various female powerhouses, and much more! Move over pizza Fridays, this podcast may be my new favorite thing!
The next time you are taking a road trip, doing the dishes, working out, or catchin some sun pop on a podcast. You won’t regret it!
Let’s learn something new together!
