I feel like it’s safe to finally say spring has sprung in New England. The weather is starting to warm up, the days are getting longer, and my headspace is in a much happier state.
Every year around this time, I like to do a spring reset on my life. I don’t know about you, but I am a much happier person come spring and summer and I really enjoy purging the winter months…makes me feel refreshed and reenergized!
My spring reset is nothing crazy and super easy for you to incorporate into your seasonal transitional checklists. Check out the five simple things I do for a spring refresh!

Change out your seasonal clothes
Fellow New Englander’s, you get me on this one HAH! There is just no room for bulky sweaters and shorts in the same space. Any time I change out my clothes for the season, I love to “Marie Kondo” my wardrobe…aka donate anything that didn’t bring me joy over the winter. I’m still in the process of building a capsule wardrobe, so anything trendy usually gets donated and staple pieces get sent to the dry cleaner then packed away until next winter.
For smaller spaces, I highly suggest utilizing under-the-bed storage containers for bulky items like sweaters, sweatshirts, and winter shoes. Keeps everything organized in one place and is optimal for all you organizational queens out there.
Deep clean your house
I know I’m the odd one out on this one, but nothing brings me more joy than deep cleaning our entire house. Top to bottom our little domain receives 5-star quality cleaning. I’m talking about every molding, floorboard, and surface. Linens, shower curtains, and blankets get washed, the pantry and the fridge get organized, and all the windows and floors get washed. IT’S GLORIOUS!
Operation “spring refresh” can be as small or large of a project as you want it to be. Because I normally take time to organize closets, under the sink storage areas, and the pantry, deep cleaning our house is a weekend affair. I like to plan ahead by preordering any organizational items, cleaning products, and creating a huge to-do list to make sure I stay on task.
Typically, we pick a rainy, gross weekend in April to tackle this project so we don’t experience FOMO when the weather is consistently beautiful.
Swap out decor
In addition to deep cleaning your house, take the time to swap out your decor. Give your living space new life by swapping out pillows, blankets, dish towels, soaps, and candles. If you are really feeling adventurous, try swapping out bigger ticket items like artwork or lamps. I am by no means suggesting to go out and buy all new pieces (but if you want to, get it, girl!). Try taking items you already have in your home and repurpose them! You would be surprised how you can freshen up a space with things you already have! Invest in some house plants
This is more of an Elliott thing than a me thing as I tend to kill every plant I have ever purchased. I don’t know what it is about springtime and new plants but I’m all about it! The beautiful greenery really gives a home a happy feel with gorgeous pops of color. Bonus if you find chic pots to put the plants in!
Keep in mind, not all plants are animal friendly! Do a quick Google search prior to bringing anything new home to keep your fur children safe! Be sure to shop local to support the greenhouses and nurseries in your area!
Switch up the menu
By now, you are probably sick of chili, soups, and heavy winter dishes…I know I am! Time for a menu glow-up!
The spring and summertime are the perfect opportunities to enjoy the fruits and vegetables that are finally back in season! I’m talking about berries, melons, watermelon, tomatoes, etc! Incorporate these items into lighter dishes like summer salads, pineapple cilantro rice, or pasta salads. What is also great about switching up the menu is you can finally get outside to use the grill again! Cue the cheeseburgers!
