Do you know those women who are always in shape? Like the ones who find the time to work out every day, wake up with a pep in their step every morning even before they have enjoyed a cup of coffee, and who always seem to be radiating from the inside out…mmm girl, I see you glowing!
Yes, we all know them! These are the women who inspire us to be better…you know – the ones that make us want to level up instead of laying on the couch, binge-watching Netflix, and eating an entire carton of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream (and let me just put it out there…there is nothing wrong with a little binge-watching and ice cream HAH)
What do these women have in common? They have created sustainable, healthy habits. Yepp, that’s right…there is no secret sauce recipe to feel in shape. Just simple, achievable habits. Let me take a beat to define what “feeling in shape” looks like. Gone are the days where the scale, crazy diets or cleanses, and being a certain size define what it means to be in shape. That shit is for the birds! To me, being in shape means living your best, healthiest life and loving yourself for who you are.

They live a balanced lifestyle

Life is all about balance. I’m not in the mindset where denying yourself something is a “healthy” choice. I think it’s important to change the narrative when it comes to eating. Instead of focusing on things you shouldn’t eat (because let’s face it…the more you tell yourself not to eat those Girl Scout cookies, the faster you will eat the whole sleeve), focus on what you should be eating. Food guilt is a real thing!
Women who are always in shape get excited about how they nourish their bodies whether it be with fresh salads, smoothies, delicious proteins, or steamed veggies. The next time you meal prep, think about how you can fuel your body with amazing food that will make you feel like a million bucks! But also, if you wanna treat yourself to a bag of cape cod chips, a few cookies, or some ice cream, do it! They are called treats for a reason!
They find joy in exercise
Women who are always in shape find joy in working out. To them, exercise is not viewed as a chore, punishment, or something they have to do. They actually love it and look forward to doing it! It may take a few rounds of trial and error, but finding the right workout that sparks joy will make it easier to incorporate exercise into your daily routine. Science has proven that exercise leads to the body producing “happy chemicals” that elevate your sense of well-being and suppress stress and anxiety hormones. Who doesn’t want to feel happier?!?
Exercise doesn’t have to look like long runs, 100 sit-ups, and heavy weight lifting. You could take a walk, try a light jog, take a barre or spin class, or start your morning with yoga. I never thought that running would bring me the intense joy that it has brought me but here I am all smiles after I put in a few miles.
They radiate confidence
Confidence is one of the most powerful things a woman can possess. Confident women know exactly what they deserve and the steps to achieve anything they set their mind to. They show up for themselves in their jobs, in the kitchen, in the gym etc. making it easier to adhere to a healthy lifestyle.
Coming from someone who lacked confidence (and sometimes still lacks confidence) for a long time, it’s a mindset game. Mind over matter type shit. But now that I have felt what it’s like to achieve something great, I can’t turn back. I know what I deserve out of this world and I’m going to continue to show up for myself. It’s time to choose you! What do YOU want out of this world…we only get one life. It’s time to start living yours!
They listen to their bodies
Your body is one powerful vessel! Treat it as such! Women who are always in shape listen to their bodies. If they are hungry, they eat. When they are tired, they rest. If they are sore, they stretch. At this point in your life, you know what foods/drinks make you feel like garbage. Listen to the signs your body is telling you so you should fuel or rest accordingly.
They stick to a routine
Women who are always in shape keep a routine. As I mentioned earlier, it is easy to feel in shape when you create and follow simple habits. When you follow a healthy routine that becomes second nature, you don’t even realize the things you do everyday are actually created habits. Create a routine that makes your life more efficient, helps you maintain a healthy lifestyle, and brings you joy!
They enjoy their time in the kitchen

I have no business being in the kitchen as I am the world’s worst cook. Listen, we can’t be good at everything! Despite my cooking limitations, I LOVE meal prepping. It is something I look forward to every Sunday. I know that the food I am preparing helps me fuel my body with healthy choices, there is less of a risk of grabbing trash snacks since everything is prepared beforehand, and it makes my morning routine so much easier. Pinterest is the best when it comes to creating easy lunch ideas! Seeing all my containers perfectly portioned out with food brings me so much joy!
